CARIFIESTA PARADE 2011
OFFICIAL PARADE RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. All band leaders must submit their entry applications no later than Thursday, March 31st, 2011
2.To secure your entrance in the parade, the aforementioned signed registration form and a deposit of $250 will be required. This is a non-refundable deposit (unless your application is refused). The schedule for the outstanding balance must be respected as such:
a. $375 (costumed bands) and $625 (non-costumed bands) by April 30th, 2011 at 11h59 pm
b. $375 (costumed bands) and $625 (non-costumed bands) by May 31st, 2011 at 11h59 pm
3. All bands must report to the site captain for truck assignment and number. Parade line-up will be determined by the selection committee.
4. All trucks must be secured with wood and skirts prior to leaving the truck yard. The loading for final set-up and
decoration will be available from 8 am on Saturday, July 9, 2011. The loading area is located at the corner of Fort
and René-Lévesque. The trucks set-up should be completed by 10:30.
5. Parade to begin on schedule at 12 pm EST. Any bands that are not ready to depart at that time will not be permitted to participate in the parade.
6. All bands must have proper signage promoting their trucks
7. All bands must reflect the spirit of the Caribbean in proper costume attire*.
*Examples of traditional carnival costume themes include head piece and body outfit that are decorated in feathers, sequins, cut material, props such as hats and similar attire.
8. All materials used for the set-up of participating trucks are the sole responsibility of the bandleaders. CCFA is not responsible for any lost, misplaced or stolen items.
9. No alcoholic beverages will be permitted in the loading area of the parade or the parade route.
10. Bandleaders are required to supply first-aid kits that will be located on the trucks for immediate emergency
purposes.
11. All musical equipment must be secured with proper strapping to the trucks to avoid tipping.
12. All music must be turned off at the end of the parade route and all trucks must be dismantled immediately.
13. There will be no getting off and on the trucks while they are moving through the parade route. If you are on the truck, you must remain on the truck.
14. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult along the parade route to a maximum of 5 children to 1 adult.
15. Each band will be permitted no more than 3 additional vehicles to travel with the truck. These vehicles may be for refreshments or support of the band. This number of additional vehicles must be submitted to CCFA by June 9, 2011.
16. Profanity over the microphone will not be tolerated. Offenders will be asked to step down from the truck when it has stopped forward progress and asked to leave that band.
17. Officers from the Montreal Police Force will be on hand during the parade and everyone will need to follow theirdirection should it be necessary for them to do so.
18. Each band is required to assign their own parade Marshalls (minimum of 5 per band). CCFA will also have its own team of Marshalls and security personnel. You must follow their direction at all times on the road unless an official Carifiesta 2011 organizer or a member of the Montreal Police Force intervenes.
19.ALL BAND MEMBERS MUST ABIDE BY THE RULES AND REGULATIONS AS SET OUT FOR THE PARADE!
